In general it works fine also for RTL languages, but I realized, that if we use the "fraction slash" (Unicode U+2044), in RTL languages we can't get the correct results. In current project I have to deal a lot with fractions and superscript. See here same texts with character format in second version place on "30":ģ. If I put that style only on a number within the text, I have changes to the complete text. I also tried to manipulate the numbers by a certain character style. That being said, I saw folk asking for page numbering in Acrobat for years before it was finally added. It will be a painful and slow manual process in Illustrator, not well suited to a production environment. Without master pages and automated pagination, each time things get re-edited and rearranged, the pages have to be renumbered. There would be quite a few additions to it in order to be shipped as an Illustrator update, which might make it slightly more complicated.īut in the real world of creating books, magazines, and newsletters, you're getting content (text and graphics) from many people and the layout will change multiple times. You will be very frustrated if you continue in Illustrator.Ĭarlos' script is great, but when you change the order of artboards, the numbering doesn't get updated, which would be useful. If you have InDesign, if is better suited for books with pages (as opposed to artboards), margins, columns, headers, footers, page numbers and more. You can manually type the numbers in a printable area. Illustrator does not have automatic page numbering. I recorded doing what you said but all that does is change the placement of the artboards. I've tried quitting/restarting, rebooting the system, multiple new documents, multiple existing documents created with CS5. I typically only work with 5 to 6 artboards, so the skipping of number 5 and duplicate of number 7 is very annoying.
